Introduction

Weeping Moss is an incredibly versatile and great looking moss that can be used in a variety of dramatic ways in the aquarium!

Weeping Moss (Vesicularia ferrieri) is an exceptional aquatic moss species that is known for its thick and branching growth. It is primarily aquatic, but it can also grow for extended periods out of water in humid conditions. It is relatively fast-growing for a moss and it also can thrive in higher lighting than most other moss species. It can be grown in a mass, but it is especially attractive when attached to aquarium decor such as driftwood and rocks.

This is a very easy plant to keep without much extra care, but like all plants, it can benefit from CO2 supplementation, although this is not required. Like many mosses, it does not typically respond positively to most chemical plant supplements. Many aquarists report success with this moss purely through keeping a well-maintained aquarium with no supplementation.

This listing is for the tissue culture form of Weeping Moss. Tissue cultures are superior to traditional forms of aquarium plants in many ways. They are produced in a completely sterile environment which eliminates the possibility of them carrying pest snails or algae spores. They have a shelf life (before introduction to the aquarium) of several months if properly maintained and they are housed in a nutrient gel until introduced to the aquarium. To introduce a tissue culture plant to the aquarium, simply rinse off as much nutrient gel as possible, then plant as usual. The nutrient gel will not harm your aquarium.
